Open Science: Changing the Impact of Scholarship Open Access

Open science/scholarship is taking scholarly communications by storm, but what do we really mean by open science? By introducing foundational concepts of open science, the spectrum of ways that researchers may choose to adopt more open publishing practices become apparent. This presentation will also address motivations researchers may have for changing their communications behavior, such as: compliance with open access requirements; reproducibility/replicability concerns; and increasing their scholarly impact. Equipped with an understanding of the changing landscape of publishing and a familiarity with several practical tools, we enter into discussions with researchers stronger and better positioned to support them as they adapt to new modes of scholarly communications.
