Illimitable Horizon: Winslow Homer, Small Boats, and an American Identity
Open AccessIllimitable Horizon will display small boats in a new light--one that shows their personal importance to the people who built and used them. Artifacts including oral histories, fine art, and historical tools, in addition to four noteworthy boats, will allow visitors to recognize the importance of small boats in the development of the culture of coastal New England that persists to this day. Projected archival footage and contemporary environmental displays give visitors a sense of connections across time. Visitors will leave with a new appreciation for small boats and a deeper understanding of what defines a local culture.
