The Influence of Semantic Repetition Priming and Dose Effect on Naming Performance by Persons with Aphasia

Open Access

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of semantic repetition priming and dose effect on naming performance accuracy by Persons with Aphasia (PWA). In accordance with an Interactive Activation model, priming should result in immediate interference followed by short term facilitation. Treatment combined massed practice of semantic repetition priming and visual confrontation naming in a high and low dose condition. Responses were analyzed for interference, facilitation, or unrelated responses. Results supported previous studies that semantic repetition priming can facilitate confrontation naming, whereas more research is needed in regards to the dose effect.
