Open Access DepositedDownloadable Content
This study aims to elucidate the processes employed by decision-makers within international financial institutions, especially when they encounter novel and dynamic environments, which often involve crises. More specifically, it seeks to understand how individuals leading international financial institutions make decisions to promote economic development in member countries during times of crisis, considering their level of expertise, intuition, social cognition, and values and beliefs in such challenging situations. The study employs the naturalistic decision model as the premise for this inquiry. Naturalistic decision making is a field of psychological inquiry that seeks to understand how professionals deploy their cognitive expertise, intuition, values, and beliefs to perform complex tasks within organizations. Adopting a basic qualitative research method, the study utilizes interviews to collect data. It adopts a thematic analysis method to understand the decision-making processes of decision-makers in international financial institutions.
