Unintended Consequences of Public Policy
Open Access DepositedThis dissertation consists of three independent essays quantifying the unintended consequences of a set of public policies. Chapters 1 and 2 explore the interaction between taxpayers and the tax authority. In particular, I explore how changes in the perceived probability of monitoring and detection can influence taxpayers' behavior. Chapter 3 examines how the implementation of a pollution-focused driving restriction can displace resources away from policing.
