Essays on The Role of Quality in Healthcare Regulatory Environments

This dissertation is a three-essay empirical study that addresses the role of quality in several healthcare regulatory environments. The first essay of this dissertation studies the relationship between pharmaceutical competition within Peruvian generic drug markets and the price of branded and unbranded generic products. The second essay of this dissertation studies the relationship between manufacturing quality surveillance inspection outcomes and several facility characteristics. The third essay of this dissertation studies the relationship between mandated patient satisfaction scores and the staffing levels of nurse assistants and licensed nurses.
