Thesis Statement: With the growing usage of cloud services in a number of fields, more and more research work is focusing on improving the overall perfor- mance of the cloud. As data centers in the cloud are coordinating hundreds of thousands of heterogeneous tasks everyday, meeting everyones requirements in various aspects becomes a very complicated problem. In this work we (i) provide a quantitative framework to model key performance metrics such as latency and reliability in cloud computing, and (ii) develop a cloud resource management system that dynamically optimize resource allocation to deliver differentiated cloud services satisfying heterogeneous requirements.
