Open Access

This thesis research document is one of two documents used to describe a conceptual exhibition design. This exhibit at The National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. shows women at the vanguard of the changing domestic environment; creatively contributing to the rapid domestic transformations occurring in the 20th century. This exhibit will show women and use the home as a lenses to both observe and document greater social change. Included are historic and contemporary objects, which represent products used in a domestic setting. Separate didactic and immersive spaces will be created to teach and show visitors a range from the banalities to the urgent actualities of domestic life in the last half of the 20th century.
