PLAY x ART: Promoting Art Appreciation and Practice to Non-Traditional Museum Environment in Uptown, DC
Open AccessThis thesis proposal promotes art appreciation and practice through the lens of great artists like Picasso for local DC communities outside of the museum environment. Located at the Uptown Art House in Washington, DC, this exhibition will expand out of its existing gallery space to the back-parking lot transformed into a new venue for community gathering in the Cleveland Park neighborhood. The goal of the exhibition is to create an experience of intrigue towards the unlimited forms of art created by self-taught, often young artists, inspiring visitors to become the same source of artistic presence in their communities. Both adults and children will equally grow an appreciation for this exhibition, however this exhibition will be ideal for families with younger children. Naturally driven to be innovative and playful, young children have the greatest potential to be impacted from this exhibition and their accompanying adults will share their inspirational experience by participating in playing art together.
