The D.C. Quadrants Project

The DC Quadrants Project (DCQ), is a multimedia project that explores the physical and social conditions of Washington, D.C.; a city currently undergoing a radical process of transformation. The project documents the physical attributes of buildings sharing the same address, with the only distinction of the quadrant in which they’re located in. The purpose of this exploration is to challenge the viewer’s own preconceptions regarding the distribution of inequality across the city. Through a series of short documentaries of subjects living in those addresses, portraits with audio-interviews of people on the streets, maps, environmental videos and photographs, the project comes together on the interactive website www.dcqproject.com, where the viewer has the possibility to explore each quadrant independently to get a deeper understanding of how of the effects of development and how the transformation of the city looks and feels like in the words of its own inhabitants. www.dcqproject.com
