It sets the stage for the discussion by outlining the scope and purpose of this paper. The first chapter delves into the evolution of enterprise architecture, emphasizing the shift towards integrating digital technologies like cloud computing, mobile IT solutions, big data analytics in defense organizations. The term "Architecture Framework" has been pivotal since the inception of the Zachman Framework in the 1980s. However, the focus has markedly shifted towards frameworks that align corporate strategies with IT innovations to enhance operational resilience and strategic agility. The advent of cloud computing and mobile technologies has transformed traditional IT systems into more dynamic, scalable, and interconnected architectures. DREAM is introduced as a forward-looking framework designed to navigate and leverage these technological advancements, ensuring that defense enterprises can achieve enhanced operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and strategic adaptability in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. This study aims to present DREAM as the quintessential architecture framework for defense organizations, guiding them through the intricacies of digital transformation while addressing the unique challenges and opportunities that arise in the defense sector.
