Historians Christopher Lasch and Eugene D. Genovese co-wrote an unpublished manuscript in 1969 entitled "Beyond the New Left." For what purpose did Lasch and Genovese collaborate? What does the manuscript say. in general, about the two, and their political trajectories, along with the general state of the New Left in 1969? I argue that this manuscript is not only critical to understanding both historians political trajectories, but also helpful in sorting out historiographical arguments regarding not only Lasch and Genovese, but also the New Left in general.
