Everything at Once

Open Access

Everything at Once is an immersive audio/visual experience that attempts to placehumanity’s current moment in the context of a bigger picture: from the Big Bang to the present. Original soundscapes come together with audio-reactive visuals to take the viewer on a visceral journey that is intended to be a celebration of both the ingenuity and creativity of human existence —while also serving as a warning that the complexity of human life is as delicate as it is fleeting.A key influence of the project is the academic concept of “Big History,” a term coined by historian David Christian. Big History examines history from the Big Bang to the present using a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating a mix of sciences (biology, astronomy, physics, geology, etc.), anthropology, social sciences, and humanities. Similarly, Everything at Once will take the viewer on a journey that starts with the creation of the universe and ends somewhere in the future. The journey is divided into five sections: “Creation,” “Humans,” “Civilization,” “Warning,” and “Awakening.” While each section has its own unique themes, moods, visual content and sound design, the entire piece is intended to blend together seamlessly. It will run between seven and a half minutes and is designed to run in a continuous loop. Currently the project is intended to be presented in the context of an art gallery, but could also possibly be presented in a public space to inspire discussions and reach the maximum amount of people.
