Constructs Open Access

The works presented and discussed in this thesis are constructs. Constructs, as related to these works, are stories, ideas, and objects. Artworks built around narrative and metaphorical elements aid in connecting and resolving a variety of thoughts and ideas on memory and history, religion and societal issues. These same elements provide support for the viewer in turn to construct and author their own understanding of the work. When the material, aesthetic, and display choices are considered by the viewer, a stage for dialogue emerges welcoming individuals' interpretations.
