Characterization of the Relationship Between Executive Functioning Scores in Preschoolers and Performance on Various Imitation Tasks

Open Access

This thesis characterizes how learning in three novel imitation tasks—Cognitive, Motor-Spatial, and Tower Tasks—correlates to individual executive functioning scores in preschool age children (2 to 5 years of age) as reported by the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function-Preschool (BRIEF-P). In addition, this thesis explores how individual differences in EF correspond to performance across all three imitative tasks—namely, it examines whether imitative performance in one task predicts imitative performance in other tasks and whether this variation is predicted by BRIEF-P scores.
