Regression Model for Predicting Overall System Performance

To meet the requirements of the Montreal Protocol and the subsequent Kigali amendment,the HVAC industry is transitioning to low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants less than 150 (greenhouse gas emissions less than 150 years). During this switch, to reduce development, testing, and time to market and maintain market share, a model predicting the overall system performance (kW/T) is essential. In this praxis, a statistical analysis of a dataset of over 382 data points from four major OEMs of large, water-cooled chillers was used. This yielded a regression model for predicting the overall system performance (kW/T) with a R2 of 87.83% and a R2 predicted of 84.33%. This praxis also offers the confirmation that low GWP as a drop-in refrigerant does not yield the same capacity and performance as the current refrigerant (R134a, for example). Finally, by rejecting the null hypothesis, the one-way ANOVA ascertained that not all the population means for overall system performance are equal.
