This thesis delivers research and documentation on the process of designing, planning and executing costumes for Translations by Brian Friel, produced by the Department of Theatre and Dance at The George Washington University. Translations was directed by Professor Kanter and performed in the Dorothy Betts Marvin Theatre from February 15, 2018 to February 18, 2018. Other members of the design team include the Scenic designer was JingWei Dai and the Lighting designer, Professor Gudenius. The intent of this thesis is to illustrate how the costume design process from concept to realized costumes contributed to my development as a designer.Furthermore, the design process, play analysis, and the fabrication of the costumes are exhibited with the influence of Irish history with supported research as well as photographs of the final product.
