Conflicted Objects
Open AccessEach section of this thesis statement describes specific pieces that introduce aspects of the concept of conflicted objects. Inspired by the extremes of confinement and freedom, my artwork is in dialogue with conceptual artists and philosophers ranging from Banksy and John Baldassari to the early nineteenth-century theology of Søren Kierkegaard. Conflicted objects undermine critical assessment through ambivalent representations embodied in installations, photographs, drawings, and paintings.
