Lighting the Magic Lantern: Social Justice, Media Literacy and Empowerment

Open Access

Lighting the Magic Lantern: Social Justice, Media Literacy and Empowerment Media literacy programs have the potential to transform our social landscape if they are engaging women and girls as critically informed producers of visual culture. Empowering media literacy education has the potential to be a radical, transformative project. This paper will turn a critical eye toward existing programs, and offer suggestions for future educators.
