Capturing Emotions: Avedon & Botticelli

Open Access Deposited

Over the past three decades, museums have explored various exhibition methods such as avant-garde design and sensory stimulating programs to enhance the visitor's museum experience. It no longer suffices to simply display a collection of objects in an exhibit. In adapting to this museum trend, Capturing Emotions: Avedon & Botticelli, will introduce an innovative art experience by juxtaposing artworks of an Italian Renaissance painter, Sandro Botticelli and an American photographer, Richard Avedon. The exhibition will reveal the artists' initial motives behind capturing characters in their portraits and how they perceived human values and social anxieties in the 15th century and modern era.
