Gentrification is a phenomenon that has changed the cultural and architectural landscape of Washington, D.C. The effects of gentrification are apparent in the cultural shift that has occurred over the past 30 years. the racial make up of the city is separated by neighborhoods that have or have not been gentrified. Along with the racial transformation, the architectural landscape of the district has changed. This is the result of urban development that embraces modern design, instead of classical architectural styles the city was founded on. The history of cultural and architectural character of Washington, D.C. is the foundation of the nations Capital that must be celebrated.
