Online Platforms for Female Sex Workers in Hong Kong:A Qualitative Analysis of Advertisements and Customer ReviewsHong Kong treats prostitution differently than mainland China. Prostitution is legal inHong Kong for independent sex workers who are not controlled by a manager, whereasthis remains illegal in mainland China. This study analyzes prostitution advertisementsand client reviews published on an online platform. The study is based on multi-stagesampling strategies and seeks to evaluate information posted by sex workers, as well asfeedback provided by customers. A grounded theory methodology, coupled with apolymorphous paradigm, will be used to determine which elements are emphasized in sexworkers' adverts. In addition, I examine a range of behavioral patterns and experiences inclients' feedback from online reports, which shed some light on the power relationsbetween customers and sex workers. The study is the first to analyze such content on aChinese website.
