American Humanitarian Volunteerism in Russia’s Military 1914-1917

This study examines the links between American desire for enhanced trade with Russia in the period 1914-1916 and the provision of humanitarian aid to Russia's military. It also reveals the nature and extent of American volunteers serving on the Eastern Front before American entry into the First World War, including attempts to create an American Ambulance in Russia.
