Cast a Bloody Shadow: The Political Right in Interwar Hungary and its Post-Communist Legacy

Open Access

This thesis examines the nature and evolution of the political right in Hungary during the Interwar (1919-1939) and Post-Communist (1994-present) eras. It argues that the ideology and rhetoric of the Post-Communist political right in Hungary is deeply linked to the politics of the Interwar era, and that the political culture of authoritarianism, corruption, and extreme nationalism which defined Interwar Hungary has made a significant and disturbing resurgence in Post-Communist Hungary.
