The Unitarity Limit of NN Scattering With Perturbative Pions to N2LO
Open AccessThe unitarity limit provides a method to evaluate the scattering phase shift by introducing an extra symmetry in the nucleon-nucleon scattering system at low energies. Under the symmetry, the scattering length of the S channel and T cahnnel are the same and both approach to infinity. Evidences suggest that the physical world is not far from the unitarity limit. By treating the phase shift at the next- to-leading order and next-to-next-to leading order as perturbative corrections which break down the symmetry, quantitative corrections to the system can be calculated for the description of realistic systems. S. Fleming, T. Mehan and W. Stewart (FMS) have provided a calculation at NN scattering to N2LO, but not in the unitarity limit. To check the correctness of our work, the reproductions of FMS’s work are in the Method chapter. After that, the phase shifts are studied in the unitarity limit. In the Result chapter, we argue that the unitarity limit works well in the singlet channel. However, there are some problems in the triplet channel. Possible reasons are discussed in the Conclusions.
