Interpreting the General Motors 'Radical Restructuring' in Light of the Definition of a "Subsidy" within the SCM Agreement

This thesis examined several forms of United States (US) government support and intervention in the US automotive industry, with a particular focus on the forms of support provided to General Motors Corp. The purpose of the thesis is to determine whether certain US government's involvement with General Motors qualify as "subsidies" under the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures (SCM Agreement) that governs the use of subsidies in the World Trade Organization.
