Abstract of ThesisLife’s A Gltich: The Multi – Dimensional Aspects of VaporwaveThis paper focuses on the exhibition proposal entitled, Life’s A Glitch: The Multi – Dimensional Aspects of Vaporwave. Vaporwave is a style of electronic music that started in early 2010 that embodies 80s synth to 90s trance through sampling and remixing of nostalgic electronic sounds. Through this musical movement a visual aesthetic was born through the internet using the avenues of tumblr and other social media platforms. These visuals embodied 80s, 90s, and early 00s nostalgia with a funk futuristic twist based off the sounds of the music. Life’s A Glitch is an exhibition proposal that connects audiences in Tokyo, Japan to an augmented reality experience. To achieve this vision, there will be a collaboration with other digital Vaporwave artists in the creation of six timed art installations that will be happening spontaneously at night for one month only.
