Content and Character: Dikran Kelekian and Eastern Decorative Arts Objects in America

Dikran Kelekian (1868-1951) legitimized the collecting and study of Ancient Near Eastern and Islamic decorative arts (ceramics, textiles, and the like) through his roles as an art dealer and businessman, educator, and curator. He was active in the United States and Paris from 1893 to 1951. Objects with a Kelekian provenance are found in premiere museum collections around the world.
