Breast Cancer Genomics: A Computational Approach
Open AccessBreast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women, which accounts for 23% of all cancers. RNA sequencing is a technique used for transcriptomic profiling and has been hailed as a revolutionary tool for transcriptomics. RNA-seq for 17 breast cancer tissue samples from TNBC, Non-TNBC and HER2-Positive sub-groups was performed which provided with a comparative transcriptomic profile of these three breast cancer sub-groups. The expression profile highlighted the differences at the molecular level in the breast cancers and showed that breast cancer is very heterogeneous. Highly significant genes, which were differentially expressing between each of the groups, were identified using computational tools. The comparative genomics approach also identified highly abundant primary transcripts in genes such as SPARC and B2M. This study aims to find the transcriptomic profile of breast cancers that might help in understanding the disease in a comprehensive way.
