Ever Present
Open AccessAlzheimer’s is one of many degenerative diseases over 5 million Americans live with daily. These individuals could not survive a healthy lifestyle without the service of care provided by a loved one or a medical facility. My grandfather has lived with Alzheimer’s for over ten years now while my grandmother, his sole caretaker, has suffered from its side effects. The goal of this thesis is to illuminate the painstaking process of mentally losing someone you love while still physically caring for their well-being. Despite the challenges of watching her husband and their relationship deteriorate, she remains loyal to her vows with her ever present love. Throughout this multimedia project I used mediums including video, photographs, archival images, interviews, archival letter scans, cinéma vérité, and voicemail audio messages.
