Animal Coloration as an Illustrative Model of Selection

My thesis discusses how animal coloration is used as a model for sexual selection. It is in three parts. Part one provides background information on sexual selection theory and animal coloration. Part two considers how evolution is seen as a potentially controversial subject and is presented in museum exhibits with this in mind. Part three is a proposal for a museum exhibit using animal coloration as a salient gateway for explaining sexual selection and evolution without directly labeling it as an exhibit “about evolution”, which might be a deterrent for some museum visitors. These components culminate in an exhibit proposal to introduce evolutionary theory to the public by asking the question, why are some animals so brightly colored?
