"Unnecessary Suffering: new treatment cures hepatitis C" is a New Media Photojournalism thesis by Imran Khan presents educates the public on the global threat of the hepatitis C epidemic and treatment options: interferon vs. sobosfuvir. The thesis is presented as a website that contains a short video documentary, a magazine style article with still photographic images, an essay that discusses the visual narrative and influences around hepatitis C, an essay that provides background information on the disease and treatment, community engagement, and a bibliography. New treatment that eradicates the virus from the body is very expensive making global access difficult depending on income and location. The thesis focuses on the lives to two women living in Karachi, Pakistan struggling against the virus.
