This thesis paper introduces how the Comfort Stations were established. The foundation of this thesis paper is based on books, peer-reviewed articles, government documents, and media/news articles. This entire paper is the outcome of formulating a legal argument for why the sexual atrocities committed by Japan fall under the purview of crimes against humanity. This research is important because there has been no justice provided for the survivors of Imperial Japan’s sexual atrocities committed during World War II.
