Workplace Wellness
Open Access DepositedExploring the Contributions of Organizational Culture on Clinician Wellbeing
This dissertation investigates the influence of organizational culture on clinician workplace wellbeing in outpatient mental health centers (OMHCs). Recognizing the increasing rates of burnout and compassion fatigue among mental health professionals, this research aims to explore how the workplace environment affects the workplace wellbeing of clinicians. Hierarchical regression analysis was utilized to assess the relationship between years of experience, perceived organizational support, and decision latitude, on clinician wellbeing. Findings indicate that while years of service do not significantly predict workplace wellbeing, perceived organizational support and decision latitude are significant predictors. These results underscore the necessity for systemic changes in organizational practices to cultivate a supportive work environment, which will ultimately enhance clinician retention and service delivery. This research contributes to the discourse on clinician workplace wellbeing by advocating for a more comprehensive approach that encompasses both individual self care and organizational accountability. Recommendations for enhancing workplace wellness are presented, alongside directions for future research to further investigate the dynamics of organizational culture and clinician workplace wellbeing.
